As you may or may not know, Youtube is a great way to get traffic to your site or offer. Youtube has a Google page rank of 9 out of 10 and is the number 3 most visited site on the web, according to Alexa. This means that when you post a video on Youtube, you will not only get traffic from the site itself (as long as you title and tag your video properly), but it will also help get you ranked in the search engines–when you include a link to your site.
Recently however, Youtube has been making some changes that could significantly impact your efforts, especially if all you do is post videos to video-sharing sites. A number of my internet marketing friends (some of them high-profile) that work in the internet marketing niche have informed me that they have had their accounts banned due to the fact they had keywords like “make money online” in the titles, descriptions, and titles of their videos. Some had 100’s of videos and years worth of content!
I decided to check out Youtube and see for myself. Sure enough their accounts had been banned and all their videos gone. I know of one or two who have been able to get their accounts restored, but I’m not sure exactly how they did it or how long it took. I have other friends who have tweeted and sent e-mails to customer service to no avail. So, if you are in the IM niche and want to put videos on your site, upload them to your own server.
Oh, when I was doing searches on Youtube, I noticed that accounts/videos with keywords like “make money with Clickbank” or “Make money with Google adsense” were still okay for now. I don’t know how long that’s gonna last, though, so if you’re into creating videos, I not sure I would take the chance in finding out.
